It's not long before Clayton teams up with a few other survivors and they begin the trek north to Maine, where Clayton is determined to reunite with his 12-year-old son, Johnny G., and possibly his estranged wife, Sharon. The streets fill with blood-covered, crazed zombies who no longer speak, only grunt gutturally before attacking the next human - or dog - they encounter. A woman and two teenagers standing in front of him at the ice cream truck, cell phones naturally attached to their ears, suddenly fall on each other like rabid dogs. As he pauses to treat himself to an ice cream cone on Boylston Street, the world around him suddenly and horribly devolves into a scene of carnage and mayhem. Our hero is Clayton Riddell, a graphic artist from Maine who is in Boston inking a deal to draw comic books.
